Understanding the Boundary Between Education and Literacy

The Title is self-explanatory. Let’s clear our concepts first;

What is Literacy?

Literacy is the ability to read, write and express ourselves. The key to literacy is reading development, a progression of skills that begins with the ability to understand spoken words and decode written words, and culminates in the deep understanding of text.

What is Education?

I define Education as the capability to use the ability to express ourselves. This is one line definition of education. Education is the application of literacy, not just the literacy.

A person can’t say that “I am educated because I know how to read, write and express myself.”

Coming to my point, Are we really getting educated or just literate? People pursuing great degrees are still left unemployed. Students with great minds and talents are unemployed and maximum number of unemployment can be seen in engineering. Why is this? The answer to all these questions is THEY ARE JUST LITERATE, NOT EDUCATED.

They lack skills because they just know to express themselves but they don’t know how to express, why to express and what to express. Education involves whole methodology of applying skills, to foster development and exploring new ideas.

Now, coming to India’s education system, I believe that India is focussing on its academics but not in proper manner. Children here are characterized on the basis of their grades, marks and how much they know, not on their talent, skills and how much they discover the undiscovered. The children who have knowledge are intelligent but the children who discover and explore knowledge are called to be wise and genius.

Taking an example, Albert Einstein found no profit and interest in knowing history and learning those dates, left one of the best schools by giving fake medical certificate of nervous breakdown and started discovering the undiscovered, exploring the unexplored and fostering the science and technology not for anyone else but for himself, for getting inner satisfaction and peace. He is one of the best scientists who brought a new look to the era of science.

The people in India who are extremely talented and skillful, leave the country for getting better jobs and opportunities in foreign cities. Why this happens? What is the reason? What makes people and talents of India to leave such a wonderful country? Is this because of outer fantasies, glories or fame? No, the answer is, India lacks in its education system which makes Indian talents to settle outside.

India is a democratic developing country. India is developing constantly in its academics but in wrong way. We are just getting LITERATE, not EDUCATED.

Leaving a question for you;

Are you just literate or educated?

Elan Credit Card – Mystery Solved

While completing the research for this article, admittedly I was becoming a bit frustrated. What is it with these companies that have credit cards offers that no one could seem to access online? Seriously, what is the point?

If I am interested in your organizations’ credit card, I would expect to go online and search for your card and…voila, an entire website with all the information I need appears. It’s not magic; it’s the way things should be, any good marketer knows that.

Well to my surprise, this is not what I experienced while searching for the Elan credit card. Instead I was greeted with a card member services page for all my search effort. Now tell me, how can I become a member when I can’t even find information on the credit card offer to decide if to follow through with an application.

On further investigation, I realized that the Elan membership page was powered by Elan Financial Services so I thought If I visited their site, I might gain access to the details of the Elan credit card offer.

Once I landed at http://www.elanfinancialservices.com it became clear why there were no specific credit offers splashed across the Internet and on this occasion I would let go of my frustration because I now understand what Elan is all about.

You see Elan is actually a transaction management company that offers credit cards and other financial services to its partners.

They do not offer credit cards to the general public, but rather they handle the background work such as card authorization processing, system monitoring and point of service transactions to name a few.

You would need to be a business entity in order to benefit from the services of the Elan credit card. This is because your business would partner with Elan to provide credit card services to your customers and management of the day to day transactions would be handled and supported by Elan Financial Services

As an example the following credit cards provided by these two companies are powered by Elan, but the cards are issued in the banks name.

o Central Pacific Bank Credit Card

o Bloomfield State Bank

Even though the Elan option did not work out, there are many other credit card offers available on the market. You can search through many different categories to find the card that is right for your circumstances. Categories include:

o Airline Credit Cards

o Balance Transfer Credit Cards

o Business Credit Cards

o Bad Credit Credit Cards

o Rewards Credit Cards

o Student Credit Cards

These are just a few of the categories available, so don’t delay, start your credit card search today.

Are Animals’ Soul Contracts and Pet Past Lives Part of the Pet Reincarnation Process?

Most pet guardians consider their pet’s family members. After the death of a pet, many pet owners undergo all of the human bereavement processes. Animal reincarnation is a new spiritual perspective and resource for pet loss grief support.

Are animals’ and pets’ soul contracts are real. Yes! The first type of animal soul contract is called “Karmic.” A karmic contract affects destiny within a single incarnation. A Karmic contract is limited to that particular lifetime and can still be segment of a larger soul commitment for multiple reincarnations within an owners life. Here are a few examples:

1. A bomb squad dog that dies discovering a mine field to save his platoon.

2. A therapy dog that inspires an assisted living home’s Alzheimer’s patient to speak for the first time in many years.

These are experiences that affect their human companion’s destiny. The animal’s Karma (or soul’s choice) facilitated the outcome of the interaction with that human.

The number of agreements made between a pet’s soul and their person determine the quantity of pets’ past lives an animal will share with their companion in a single life or throughout multiple lifetimes.

Below are several types of pet spiritual arrangements that an animal can configure in his reincarnation process:

Oversouling: Is when the late pet contracts to direct a new or former pet from a “higher” perspective.

Walk in contract: Is when the deceased pet’s energy moves into another pet’s body that has agreed to relocate when the departed pet’s energy reincarnates.

Soul braiding: Is a shared contract when the deceased pet returns as a roommate within a current pet’s body.

New body contract: The pet’s energy that passed returns in a new physical form.

Animal afterlife is the timeframe when a pet’s life force energy resides in a sacred place after they have transitioned over the Rainbow Bridge. A pet’s soul can be “in-service” or live in this dimension forever or they can choose to reincarnate.

Therefore after the death of a pet and during your pet loss grief, hold faith in your heart that your pet’s life force energy and love is never ending. The reincarnation process has been embraced by many of the world’s oldest religions. Even if you’re a skeptic, what have you got to lose by considering the possibility?

If it’s what you contracted to do, it might just be only a matter of time until your beloved animal companion returns to be with you!

Put Your Pet Animal Into a Hypnotic Trance

You wonder how can I hypnotize my pet?

Think about it, you have your pet animal as one of the family member, same as your own baby, they both hear, breath and active, their for what calms you can calm your animal… just like energy. Now here is a step-by-step guide to bond and hypnotize your pet animal.

First find a comfortable place for you and your pet, such as a chair, sofa, and bed or anywhere next to your pet. The their back as you continue stroking their stomach area in a gentle soothing movements, it is very important that you do it very gently and slow, especially if you want to build a trust between you and the pet, either if it is your own or others. You may remove your hand or keep the gentle massage over your pet’s body. Make sure you touch each and every part of your pet gently to condition them to your touch and movement, then as you breath slowly in and out begin to speak softly with a deep soothing voice to keep your pet in a state of trance…

If you feel comfortable play and touch their ear with a gentle stroke to create more deepening, then start talking a little faster with a humming dog sounds, (listen to dogs cry and dogs laughter and learn the happy sound of their voice then apply it within the hypnotic suggestions) it will take them deeper…

PS: If you have a pet, you will know what type of sounds your pet makes when they are happy or excited, it is almost like talking to your pet with a baby voice, the same way you speak to an infant. With practice your pet will be conditioned to your voice using hypnosis to change their behaviors and to improve their health. When ready to bring your pet out of trance, hold their body with a firm mastery and followed with an authoritarian voice then flip your pet over to bring it out of the trance. Make sure you praise your pet with you did great, good so and so, or good dog.

Please Note: Your pet can easily be distracted from sounds and noises from outside, and therefore it is a common thing that that they will break out of trance once they have been distracted and run out toward the sound, this is a natural instinct response….So don’t be discouraged, keep practicing eventually they will not react to sounds or noises once they are deeper and comfortable where thy are within their minds.

What’s the Difference Between Walk-In and Urgent Care Clinics?

Walk-in and urgent care clinics are being utilized more than ever instead of the traditional emergency room or even a doctor’s office. Although, they share some similarities there are differences between the two facilities and what they might provide.

Walk-In Clinic

Walk-in Clinics are intended to serve the underinsured and uninsured, providing a slightly more affordable option for basic medical treatment services than a visit to a urgent care clinic or emergency room. They are intended to offer treatment for common or non-life-threatening conditions or illness such as the common cold or a bad headache. These can include minor injuries like sprains and burns and minor infections such as pink eye, bladder, sore throat and sinus, skin rashes and upset stomachs. Some clinics may offer vaccinations, routine physicals, STD prevention and pregnancy tests. Convenience is the number one reason most people visit a walk-in clinic because they do not take appointments, care is provided on a first-come/first-served basis. If you are looking for a clinic where you don’t have to make an appointment and can save the most money, a walk-in clinic is probably for you.

Urgent Care Clinic

Urgent care clinics are somewhat similar to walk-in clinics but with enhanced capabilities on site. They can treat more serious injuries and illnesses, and are designed to take some of the financial burdens off more pricy emergency care services. Hours are extended and weekend appointments are usually available. Urgent care clinics use physicians and can administer IVs, provide x-rays, and treat minor to moderate severe trauma for non life threatening conditions such as deep lacerations or broken bones. If you like the feeling of knowing you will get seen in a reasonable amount of time and want a place that’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for scheduling an appointment for medical care, then an Urgent Care Clinic is probably for you.

In conclusion, walk-in clinics can help you if you are in need of care during regular business hours, have minor to moderate injuries and illnesses and don’t have time to schedule an appointment. Urgent care clinics can help you if you are in need of care for more serious injuries or illnesses, they are available 24/7 and appointment setting is available. If you are experiencing a cold or something minor during regular business hours of the day, either can service your illness but might have a slight variance in the price.

Contract Of Employment Explained

Contract of employment like every other contract is an agreement between and employer and an employee which describes and states the condition of employment. It is always advisable for one to be sure of what the contract states before signing and accepting the contract as once signed it is binding on both parties. A well prepared contract of employment is a statement of the capacity in which the employee is employed, it covers and shows the name of the job, pay, allowances, hours of work, holidays, leave, pension arrangements, and should refer to the relevant company laws and policies as is applicable to the employee.

In a more refined way, a contract of employment is defined as an employment agreement voluntarily entered into by the employer and employee which stipulates and defines the conditions of employment. Most contracts of employment are in written form which makes it applicable and governed to the general law of contract. This then means that every contract of employment should be binding on both parties as well as valid. It then means that for the contract of employment to be binding just as I general law of contract, there should be an offer, an acceptance and a furnished consideration. In this case the offer is the written employment letter which is accepted by the employee and the consideration being the wage the employer is ready to pay the employee.

IMPORTANT FEATURES OF A CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT:

A well written contract of employment should include all of the following;

o Parties to the contract should be clearly stated: The name and contact address of the employee who is being employed should be clearly stated as well as the name and address of the employer.

o Date of employment should be clearly stated: The resumption date of the employment should be stated in the contract of employment. This will help in knowing when to start calculating the employee’s entitlements.

o Remuneration: The salary agreed on should be put down in writing. The scale or method of calculating the remuneration should also be put down in writing. Also the interval of payment should be written, either bi weekly or monthly depending on the policy of the firm.

o Terms and conditions of work relating to hours a day: The expected number of hours to be put in by the employee per day should be clearly stated in the contract of employment.

o Leave entitlements: The employees leave entitlement should be stated, number of days he is entitled to, his leave allowance, other types of leave he may be entitled to (sick leave, casual etc).

o Pension entitlements: The employee’s pension entitlements should be clearly stated if any.

o The job title: The title of the job being offered should be stated. The job tasks as well should be written.

o Confirmation: The number of months or years as the case may be the employee will serve successfully before his/her appointment will be confirmed should be stated.

o Disengagement: The number of days or months notice required by either of the parties before the contract will be terminated should be written as well.

After the contract of employment has been established, the employer and employer as well have duties to perform to keep to the terms of the contract. In the case of the employee, he has to keep to all of the following;

o Has to do his job personally: The employer was employed to work and carry out his duties by himself. It then means that by the terms of the contract, he has to do his job and duties by himself.

o Has to abide by the laws and policies of the firm: For every organization, there are laid down rules and regulations as well as policy guides that direct the affairs of the organization. The employee is bound by the contract of his employment to abide by the rules and regulations surrounding his employment contract. Disobedience to any of this may result to outright dismissal or termination of appointment.

o The employee should not by any means compete with his employer. He should not have any interest that will be against that of his employer.

o He is to conduct himself well and properly at all times. He should not be involved in any action that will be detrimental to the firm. He should come to work early and comport himself during office hours.

o He should be accountable to his employer on all assignments given to him during his period of employment.

o An employee should add value to his employer which is the main reason for his employment. He should be able to prove the skills he claimed to have prior to employment.

On the other hand the employer has some duties to perform for the employee to make sure that the contract of employment between them is sustained. The following are expected to be carried out by the employer;

o The employer is expected to pay the wages of the employee. As part of the employment contract, there is an amount that was agreed by both parties as wages for the employee. The employer is expected to pay such wages and as when due.

o He should provide the necessary and required tools to enable the employee carry out his duties effectively.

o The employer should also make sure that there is an enabling environment and good working conditions for the employee to perform his duties.

o The safety and safe working conditions should also be assured by the employer to avoid putting the employee at risk during his period of employment.

o The employee should be rewarded when he has performed well. He should also be motivated by the employer at all times. The employer should not see the employee as a slave, rather as a partner in progress, because without the employee, the employer will not succeed.

Why Exotic Pets Should Not Be Banned

We all know how special interest groups can blow things out of proportion – like the nonexistent “Exotic Pet Crisis.” If you listened to some animal rights groups, you’d think keeping exotic pets is cruel, dangerous, and even bordering on treason! Before you buy that agenda, consider that a junior high student once made a convincing case for banning dihydrogen monoxide: colorless, odorless, and tasteless, it kills thousands of people every year.

Most deaths are caused by inhalation, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Dihydrogen monoxide is also known as hydroxl acid, is the major component of acid rain, may cause severe burns, contributes to land erosion, may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes, and has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.

This report was presented to 50 students, asking them what should be done about the chemical. 43 students favored banning it, 6 were undecided, and only one correctly recognized that ‘dihydrogen monoxide’ is actually H2O — plain old water. How gullible are you?

Banning my cat makes about as much sense as banning yours – and the results are just as heartbreaking for pet and owner. Are you ready for the truth about the “Exotic Pet Crisis?”

  • Exotic pets are not dangerous! One study showed that the risk of injury to exotic cat owners was less than the risk of injury due to a domestic dog bite. And every person who drives a motor vehicle subjects themselves and their family to a risk three times greater then does someone who owns even a large exotic cat such as a tiger.
  • Most exotic pet owners are kind, intelligent people who adore their animals and take excellent care of them. We love our pets just as you love yours.
  • Exotic animal bans result in beloved pets being confiscated, impounded, and usually killed. A lucky few live out their lives in cages under the care of strangers in zoos and sanctuaries. This is the dirty secret animal rights groups don’t want you to know. Banning does not help animals: it kills them!
  • Exotic cat ownership is already regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Department of Interior, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, CITES, the Animal Welfare Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Lacey Act, more city, county, and state regulations than you can shake a stick at, as well as existing animal welfare and public safety laws that govern both exotic and domestic animals.
  • “You can buy a tiger on the Internet for $100.00,” research-averse activists proclaim in horror. Just try to order up a tiger online, or even a serval. You won’t succeed. This urban legend has great repeatability at cocktail parties and save-the-cute-animals-from-evil-humans fundraisers, but is severely lacking in the reality department. Breeders do have web sites, but it takes much more than a click of the mouse to purchase an exotic cat.

Do You Need Sports Psychology?

It’s not unusual, in fact it’s becoming the norm in the MLB and other professional sports, for players to consult and work with “mental performance coaches.” I feel I can speak for the majority of these athletes when I say 99% of them wishes they had known and worked on these mental skills much earlier in their careers.

So why did these supreme athletes ignore the benefits of mental performance enhancement, imagery and focus training, to name a few. I don’t believe they ignored it… they weren’t aware of it and that’s our fault not theirs.

Many coaches are mired in the rut of thinking mental performance training shouldn’t be considered until players are much older and only at very high skill levels of play.

I wonder how many young players were never able to reach their full potential due to mental performance issues? And for those who were able to attain higher levels of play in their sport, how many spent more agonizing times than were necessary battling performance issues which could have been alleviated through mental actions.

Even if the kid obviously doesn’t possess the skills to reach high level competition in the sport, the experience will help him in other aspects of his life.

So why would a parent paying big bucks for private lessons, a player putting in exhaustive hours of practice and a coach pouring over films and stats, ignore, or at least not put forth the effort to learn and understand the use and need of sports psychology?

I believe they just don’t know how to overcome a few mental obstacles of their own when dealing with sports psychology. For instance.

Misconception #1 “I don’t need it.”

When players are playing well, in the zone as it’s known, the idea of needing any help, especially mental help, is the farthest thing from their mind. However, if the player was more mature he’d know every player has their ups and downs, and if they could identify and harness the emotions and thoughts they are feeling while playing well, they could call on them for help when the time comes they’re not playing so well.

Misconception #2 “I’m not a freak or something.”

It’s quite unfortunate mental training has somehow become linked or synonymous with being “Mentally Weak,” such as being unable to endure tough times or control your emotions. We know this is a totally False assumption as many elite athletes, tremendously mentally strong, still use sports psychologists on a regular basis.

The issue should be viewed from a different perspective. Why do MLB players continuously work with a batting coach? Their game is not “weak or broken”. They work with a coach so they can continue to improve, and to maintain their competitive edge.

So be it with athletes who seek the services of sport psychologists, as they want to improve their mental skills.

Misconception #3 “I don’t get nervous- I’m mentally prepared at all times.”

There are athletes that actually don’t get nervous, but that’s no indication they are mentally prepared. They may suffer in other areas such as dwelling on mistakes, lack of focus, playing as well as they practiced, frustration issues, and being “prepared.”

So nerves aren’t an issue, big deal. Most players who say they are mentally prepared, if asked, could not list the steps they take before a game or any specific techniques they use. While an athlete may think he’s prepared, they often have no concrete plan to deal with both positive and negative events.

Misconception #4 “I already talk to my kid about thinking positively, why do I need someone else to do that?

Congratulation for realizing the importance of positive thinking, and it is imperative that parents are involved in helping formulate the techniques their kids are learning, however kids often tend to listen to other people before their parent. Sorry, but that’s the way of the world.

To sooth your feelings one must remember there is no single technique or modality that works well for all athletes, for all issues. Just as the field of medicine has various specialties to address various issues that patients present, sports psychology is similar. A professional has learned an array of interventions that can be customized to adapt to the wide variety of psychological issues athletes face at every level of the game.
